Focus group – late miscarriage

Participants sought for research project

Could you spare 2 hours of your time on Thursday the 15th of March 2018 for
a small group discussion in central Birmingham?

If you have had a late miscarriage between 20 weeks and 23 weeks+6 days of gestation, would you be willing to share your opinions of the care you have received in a small group discussion? If so, you could help us with our research project which is based at the Universities of Birmingham and Bristol.

We are looking for participants over 18 years of age, living in or near Birmingham, who have experienced miscarriage between 20 and 23+6 weeks of gestation between 1st October 1992 and 1st of February 2017.

Topics we will explore will include:

– any legal obstacles you faced;

– options offered for cremation or burial;

– medical leave and workplace practices;

– certification.

Our research project is funded by the Economic and Social Sciences Research Council (ESRC) and its full title is: ‘Death Before Birth: Understanding, informing and supporting the choices made by people who have experienced miscarriage, termination, and stillbirth.’  Our project partners include: SANDS, Miscarriage Association, ARC and the Human Tissue Authority.

We will hold two focus groups on Thursday, the 15th of March 2018 in central Birmingham (near Birmingham New Street station):

  • Group 1: 12:45-2:15 pm
  • Group 2: 6-7:30pm

Please indicate whether you are able to take part in Group 1, Group 2, or both.

Light refreshments will be provided.

If you would like to talk about taking part in the research, please contact Dr Karolina Kuberska (k.kuberska@bham.ac.uk). We can refund travel costs up to £20 pp (receipts will be required).  If you have mobility/travel needs please discuss this with us since we may be able to help with any additional travel costs entailed.
